Audacity Music Mix

I decided to mix and cut some songs to make a music mix using Audacity. I will use the methods of the Utah Core Curriculum for Dance. I decided to do this so that in the future, I can use this song to choreograph a competitive dance routine for my students.

Music Mix from Audacity

I will use this project in the classroom because the dancers/students will be learning a competitive dance routine to this song that I created.

The technology I used (Audacity), will help the PK and CK of what I will be teaching my students. The students may need to know how to uses Audacity as well to choreograph their own solos and duets. The Pedagogical knowledge is the general use of the Audacity program. The Content knowledge is knowing what music will fit the 2 minute standard for competition music, what time signatures fit with each other, and what kinds of music will go well together to create an awesome music mix for dance.

Internet Safety/Youth Experience

I chose to read the article under the Internet section entitled "Mixed Signals." After reading these articles, I realized that it is vital that we don't minimize the importance of our bodies by submitting ourselves to excessive technology use to the point of addiction. We should also monitor how we use the media and ask ourselves these important questions about the media or the Internet:
1. Are you informed? If not, read a reputable review and ask others.
2. Does it contain vulgarity, pornography, or other unsuitable material?
3. Does its message build up or tear down the teachings of the gospel?
4. If you’ve decided your choice is inappropriate, it’s never too late to walk out, turn it off, or put it down.

When I teach my children or students about how to use the media effectively, I will limit their time and use of the media. I will be aware of the evils that it can have, and I will focus on the good that can come from using the media to teach students and children successfully.

I can encourage my family and my friends to be careful and save while using the Internet and other forms of media. I can share with them my testimony of the good use of the media.

The resource I found most interesting was the Netsmartz site. I realized that I should teach my children and students to avoid chatting with strangers online.

I talked with my younger 12 year old brother about Internet safety. He loves to find music on the Internet, play games, e-mail, and find stuff on E-bay. His computer has a security program on it for Internet use. He also limits himself to 20-30 minutes a day after he does his homework. I shared with him that he could do so many more useful activities with his time instead of spending time on the Internet. When he limits himself, he accomplishes more homework. He and I went over the article I read called "Mixed Messages" and we gave ourselves an evalutation. We both passed the test! We effectively use the Internet in a safe way. The discussion was very positive and we both learned a lot from each other and from this Internet Safety Assignment!
